Pure Punjabi Cookery School
Welcome to our cookery classes

"I wasn’t sure what to expect but found the whole experience a delight. Excellent. The mix of cooking, eating, culture and history also a lovely mix of people.A great all-round experience of the Punjabi culture and cuisine would definitely recommend others. Thank you for a great day".
Discover the authentic flavours of North Indian home-style cooking at our intimate cookery school in South Somerset. Led by mother and daughter team Surinder and Safia, our hands-on workshops offer more than just cooking lessons – they're a journey into Punjabi culture, history, and the time-honoured techniques passed down through generations.

Our Philosophy
At Pure Punjabi, we believe in teaching real home-style food rather than restaurant-style Indian cuisine. With three generations of traditonal cookery, from our late mother/grandmother to Surinder and then to Safia. Using grandmother's traditional methods, we guide you through creating dishes from scratch in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Every workshop is limited to a maximum of 8 people, ensuring you receive personal attention and plenty of hands-on practice.

What Makes Us Special
Authentic Home Cooking: Learn the recipes and techniques used in Punjabi homes for centuries, not adapted restaurant versions.
Cultural Immersion: Our workshops include fascinating insights into Punjabi history and culture, making each class a holistic experience that goes beyond the kitchen.
Expert Instruction: Surinder and Safia bring passion, patience, and deep knowledge to every session, with clear, detailed instructions at the perfect pace for all abilities.
Intimate Class Sizes: With only 8 students maximum, you'll get plenty of individual guidance and the chance to ask questions.
Hands-On Learning: You'll be actively cooking throughout, mastering skills like working dough with traditional techniques and achieving that perfect roti puff.
