about us

Who We Are

Pure Punjabi Cookery School is a family-run, award-winning cookery experience based in Somerset, offering authentic North Indian cooking workshops grounded in generational tradition and cultural storytelling.

Founded by Surinder,  the mother-and-daughter duo are passionate about preserving their Punjabi heritage and the food and cookery of Surinder's late mother. Our workshops are about more than just recipes — they’re about identity, connection, and flavour from the heart.

What We Do

We teach hands-on, immersive cookery classes that celebrate the vibrant dishes, values, and food culture of Punjab. Our workshops focus on:

  • 🫓 Traditional Punjabi recipes passed down through generations

  • 🧄 Understanding how to use spices and real home-cooked Indian food — not restaurant-style BIR food

  • 🍛 Personalised, small-group teaching that welcomes all skill levels

  • 🌾 Cultural context – food, stories, and rituals from the Indian kitchen

Each session is designed to give you both the confidence and the knowledge to recreate real Indian food at home.

Our Mission

We believe that food is more than nourishment — it’s a cultural legacy. Our mission is to:

  • Preserve and celebrate the real and original Punjabi home cooking

  • Teach and empower others to cook with authenticity

  • Create warm, inclusive environments where people connect over food and culture

Awards & Recognition

We are proud to be:

  • 🏆 Named in Olive Magazine’s Top 8 Indian Cookery Courses in the UK

  • ⭐ Rated 5 stars across Google and Facebook reviews

  • 👩🍳 Featured in The TelegraphOlive Magazine and other national & food publications

The Pure Punjabi Ethos

  • We don’t use food colouring, shortcuts, or generic curry bases.

  • We don’t offer a 'restaurant-style' cookery class.

  • We teach real, home-cooked food, the way it’s made in Indian households.
